Color Deep Dive: Email Blue

Email Blue

Blue is the colour of the mind and is essentially soothing; it affects us mentally, rather than the physical reaction we have to red. Strong blues will stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft blues will calm the mind and aid concentration. Consequently it is serene and mentally calming. It is the colour of clear communication. Blue objects do not appear to be as close to us as red ones. Time and again in research, blue is the world's favourite colour.

In choosing colors, we often feel inspired by fine arts

Abdallah Benanteur 1957

“I was attracted to drawing at a very young age. My luck may have been a series of long childhood illnesses that kept me at home. At eleven years old, I drew a lot, flowers, still lifes with lemons, later portraits. I came to painting. I copied black and white reproductions of Rembrandt. I liked the classics of the nineteenth century, especially Monticelli, from whom there were several paintings in the Musée d'Oran. Afterwards, I discovered Matisse, Paul Klee, dazzled by this colourful Orient they had painted and that I didn't know. But also Franz Marc and German expressionism”

“Every morning, when I open the door of my studio, I hear art say to itself: "Here comes the madman who comes to my house". I am grateful to art but I have never heard it thank me. I would like to erase myself in art. To be a painter is to be the "stooge" of art, and few people accept it. It pains me to be a child of our time because she is artistically the worst and most complacent. While being artistically small, one has the possibility of being dedicated to the media. It is the media that create, disseminate and celebrate celebrities. Finally, what we know about the person does not exist, the person of the painter is an obstacle between him and the painting. It is by erasing ourselves in it that we will make it exist. In museums, in front of the glorious production of the past, I don't feel like a painter for a moment. Faced with the glorifications of modernity, however, I feel like a painter again. Every time I look at the works of the past, my faith in art as a sure and absolute value increases.”

A stunning, timeless beauty
